Toyota incorporates a Nexus 7 tablet on her dashboard
Toyota presents a prototype provided with a reception station for Nexus 7 tablet on its dashboard. Objective: replace the on -board screen with a more efficient device.
When it comes to using nomadic devices by car, car manufacturers walk on eggs, with an obsession in mind: driver's safety and electronic integrity of the vehicle. And for good reason, it is unthinkable to offer a device allowing to connect any multimedia terminal on the dashboard and let the conductors use them by rolling. You need crazy guard like the different Mirro-Link, Carplay or Android Auto systems. These connection devices make it possible to use the software resources of the phone, via the touch screen of the car the terminal on the dashboard, while acting as a filter.

Toyota is however embarking on the path of total integration of the mobile device by presenting a prototype of the reception station on the dashboard. An idea that the Japanese manufacturer has been exploring for some time because it was one of the only ones, a few years ago, to launch a car equipped with a station for portable GPS TomTom.
Toyota's new equipment, called TIS (Toyota Intelligent System), was developed by Unimax, a subsidiary of ASUS specializing in the automobile. This station allows you to receive a Nexus 7 tablet (made by Asus for Google).

Navigation, reversing camera ...
Once installed, the tablet completely replaces an on -board screen and acts as an interface with certain vehicle functions: navigation, reversing camera, tire pressure sensors, or connected applications.Ergonomics are designed for driving situations and when the tablet is disconnected, it resumes its usual interface.
Toyota does not yet specify whether this kind of initiative will materialize on a standard vehicle but it constitutes an interesting track to solve the problem of phase shift observed between the consumer electronics and that of the car.The design of an automobile requiring several years, on -board multimedia functions often have some delay compared to those of the last nomadic devices that have been designed in less than a year. With such a system, the motorist will have more likely to find features as advanced as on his smartphone.
