However, your contacts can still chat in the group you created, and they still have a copy of the email you sent them (unless you chose to self-destruct email).

By "inactive", Telegram apparently means "no account logged in" for a specified period of time. Therefore, even if you don't send a message or open the application, if you log in to your account, it won't be automatically deleted at the end of the delay.

But if you stop using Telegram and are not logged in for the allowed time, your account will be deleted, as will all your messages, media, contacts, and other data stored in the Telegram cloud.

How to remotely delete your Telegraph account in case of theft

If you can't access your Telegram account on another device, you won't lose everything. You must immediately ask your mobile operator to deactivate your SIM card and send a new SIM card with the same phone number as the old SIM card.

Upon receipt of the new SIM card:

Log in to your stolen Telegraph account with your number and password

Note that on the new device, Telegram requires the new session to be active for at least 24 hours in order to disable the old session. Therefore, you must wait at least 24 hours after you connect your new SIM card.
