Stalingrad, Dom Hemingway The best transformations of Jude Law (VIDEOS)
Since June 4, Jude Law has appeared on the big screen in Dom Hemingway, a film directed by Richard Shepard. He thus puts himself in the shoes of an ex-London prisoner renowned for knowing how to open any safe. This is not the first time that Jude Law has dared a transformation for the needs of a film. See instead:
1. A disabled person in Welcome to Gattaca
In Andrew Niccol's Welcome to Gattaca (1998), Jude Law plays Jerome Eugene Morrow, a former swimmer who became disabled following an accident. Nailed to an armchair, he transcribed all the contained pain of an ex-champion forced to sell his body to exist. It's not the main role, it's a small transformation, but a great interpretation, all in sobriety and accuracy.
2. A sniper in Stalingrad
A few years later, Jude Law still tasted success with Stalingrad, a historical film by Jean-Jacques Annaud (2001). His character: Vassili Zaitsev, a young Russian sniper sent to the front in 1942 to boost the morale of the troops. An impeccable and authentic interpretation of a soldier confronted with the horror of a war.
3. Tony in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Following the deaths of Heath Ledger, Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell reunite to take over the role of Tony in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus by Terry Gilliam (2009). In a fantasy universe, all four play a character who can change appearance. Jude Law thus imposes himself as a liar and manipulator.
4. A robot in A. I.: Artificial Intelligence
In A. I.: Artificial Intelligence, directed in 2001 by Steven Spielberg, Jude Law plays a robot, a "mecha" named Gigolo Joe, who embarks on a journey across the country with the first sentient android , a child in search of identity. This film allows him, once again, to be nominated for the Golden Globes. A transformation full of humor and delicacy.
5. A vampire in The Wisdom of Crocodiles
Jude Law's transformations date from the beginning of his career. After his success in Welcome to Gattaca, he played the main role, that of a vampire, in a very little known feature film, The Wisdom of Crocodiles (1998), directed by Po-Chih Leong. He interprets here a captivating even hypnotic bloodsucker.
