Who are the 10 new astronauts recruited by NASA?

NASA has just presented a selection of ten astronaut candidates.Ten "members of the Artemis generation", the program which should bring men back to the moon in the current decade.Almost as many women as men with varied profiles.

A little less than a year ago, NASA presented 18 astronauts which it had selected to integrate the Artemis program.Whoever leads men to put their foot on the moon again.Yesterday, the American space agency announced a new selection of ten astronaut candidates - among more than 12.000 files.A first for four years.

Future astronauts will take up their duties next January.Two years of training await them during which they will have to learn to master the systems of the international space station, train on space outings, develop their robotics skills, pilot a T-38 training aircraft and learn theRussian.It is only after that they can be assigned to various missions.Among which: a journey to the moon...even towards Mars!

Various profiles for extraordinary careers

The profiles of these astronaut candidates are varied.Among the ten, there are four women and six men.They are between 32 and 45 years old.Many have military training, but some come from other horizons.

Nichole Ayers, for example, is the youngest in promotion.She is also the one who directed, in 2019, the very first entirely female training of the F-22, a fighting aircraft.

Marcos Berríos is also fighter pilot.He has some 1.300 hours of flight on 21 different devices.

Christina Birch graduated in biological engineering.And she shone in the United States national team...track cycling.

Deniz Burnham is an expert in the energy industry.He manages drilling projects throughout North America.

Luke Delaney, meanwhile, is a test pilot.He recorded no less than 3.700 flight hours on 48 various aircraft models.

Andre Douglas is already working on maritime robotics, planetary defense and spatial exploration missions for NASA.

Jack Hathaway is commander of the American navy.He carried out 39 combat missions.

Anil Menon is the oldest in promotion.He was the first SpaceX flight surgeon.He has a solid experience of crisis medicine thanks to interventions on earthquakes or other disasters in particular.

Christopher Williams is a researcher.For example, he worked on the development of image guidance techniques for cancer processing.

Jessica Wittner is a naval aviator and test pilot.

Recall that the initially set objective to return to the Moon in 2024 cannot be held.NASA confirmed it a few weeks ago.The new calendar now provides the date of 2025.But it could still be repelled.Until 2027 or 2028.Who will then be those of the prolonged astronauts who will be ready to take up the challenge?Business...
