The cruise ship "Polarfront" back in its Boulonnais cradle
Definitely, the Polarfront does not want to break the moorings with Boulogne. It was here that this 55 -meter old meteorological ship had been completely renovated in 2017 and 2018, it was there that he returned to his technical stopover a year ago. After an intense second season of polar cruises, he is back in the Napoleon basin for a new break.
On board, ten crew members work hard to revise the machines, install a main engine warming system (in order to limit consumption at start-up) and carry out insulation and soundproofing work.
And above all, we must upgrade the reserves before the third expedition season."We are traveling in fairly remote regions and we do not want to be delivered by plane for environmental reasons," says Yann Le Bellec, president of the Marseille company Latitude Blanche, owner of the ship.
More than 700 product references are currently being replenished… including Boulonnais honey, which will see the country!
A 100 % French crew
The Polarfront therefore continues its new life, pushed by its young bosses."The last year has been rich.It remains a complicated adventure, because you have to fight to ensure the filling and the margins are not huge. But we have proven that creating a maritime company with a 100 % French crew could work, ”says Yann Le Bellec.
The shipowner is now thinking of enlarging his fleet. Will the Polarfront soon have a little brother?
