Cinema release – Benedict Cumberbatch, actor with a thousand faces
The actor is stunning as a tormented macho cowboy in a tense western by Jane Campion. Role that could earn him an Oscar. Meet.

Revealed as autistic Sherlock Holmes in the series of the same name a decade ago, Benedict Cumberbatch has since made it his mission to thwart our expectations by metamorphosing from one role to another: genius mathematician in “Imitation Game”, Julian Assange for “The Fifth Power”, Doctor Strange at Marvel, Frankenstein at the theater or even Dominic Cummings, the architect of Brexit, in a TV movie. That said, we did not expect at all to see the man with a thousand faces disembark as a macho cowboy. But appearances are deceiving, because in "The Power of the Dog", a great tense and unpredictable film by Jane Campion, he once again takes us on the wrong foot in the skin of Phil Burbank, breeder at the head of a ranch in the great spaces of Montana a century ago.
