Plane crash: an ejection capsule to get out of it
If some fighter pilots manage to escape death, it is often thanks to their ejection seat equipped with a parachute. Well, this system could one day be adapted to airliners. At least this is what we discover in the project carried out by the design office Tatarenko V.N.
Loading the video… (see on Dailymotion)In the video, we discover an incredible capsule capable of ejecting all the seats of an aircraft in the event of damage and thus leaving only the cabin to crash while that the rest of the aircraft lands quietly with parachutes. Admittedly, it seems a bit simplistic like that, but the principle is the same as that used in fighter planes and could be revolutionary if it saw the light of day in the years to come.
A capsule in the fuselage
The Tatarenko design office and the inventor of this concept, Vladimir Tatarenko, hope to be able to integrate their first capsules within 4 years. The latter are intended to integrate the fuselage of aircraft. The electrical and hydraulic systems and the means of holding the capsule in place are designed to be removed very quickly, as soon as the ejection procedure is activated. Parachutes are then responsible for slowing the fall of the capsule, which can land on land as well as water. For molten lava, it's not that yet!
A binding project
Not sure that this ingenious system will see the light of day. Indeed, the airlines that were able to discover this concept did not show great interest. For what ? Such a system can only work on a capsule containing few seats at first. It would therefore be necessary to reduce the number of seats in the planes and therefore reduce their profitability. Moreover, despite the lightness of the capsule (mainly carbon fiber composition), the overweight would lead to higher fuel consumption of aircraft. If this concept is unlikely to be integrated into planes of major airlines, it could make the happiness of private jets.
