Phonandroid Drone: how to obtain the compulsory permit to pilot legally

Piloting a drone even for leisure now requires a kind of permit in the form of a compulsory certificate to have the right to fly it.This concerns all remote -controlled “aircraft” whose weight exceeds 800 grams.Practice becomes more and more popular and is accompanied by a certain number of rules and constraints.This certificate allows the State to ensure that they are included by all the owners of these flying machines.Here's how to get this certificate.

The state has set up an online training platform “Fox Alphatango”.“This training brings you the essential knowledge to remotely telead an aircraft.It allows you to obtain the training certificate of training necessary for the use of a telepiloté aircraft of more than 800 grams "can be read on the site belonging to the civil aviation.Indeed, since November 7, 2018, this training is compulsory even for leisure drone owners according to the law of October 24, 2016.

Drone: the operation of online training

Concretely, this certificate has a validity period of 5 years from the day it is delivered to the pilot.The training is fully carried out online and above all it is free.It is aimed at all people aged at least 14 years.All controlled people who do not have this certificate risk a ticket.The training is divided into several parts “I am formed” (with short videos), “I train” (with multiple choice QCMs or questions), and “I pass my online test”.

The first part will explain the essential safety rules and the obligations incumbent on all drone pilots.It lasts about twenty minutes and includes several short videos evoking: air rules, overflight rules: protection of people and sensitive sites, regulations and prior approaches to be observed, before the flight: the rules andGood practices, in flight: rules, sanctions (in the event of non-compliance).For example, a drone is not allowed to fly at an altitude greater than 150 meters, but this can be less depending on the zones.The training also mentions the concept of respect for privacy and all the obligations linked to this practice.

As explained by the first video of the training, "each year, nearly a hundred risky rapprochements with telepiloted aircraft are reported by pilots".It was undoubtedly urgent to set up compulsory training to ensure that all pilots are going into the rank and avoiding an accident that could be dramatic.

Drone: certificate and obligations

The certificate is issued following the success of all tests, and does not give way to any error.The ambition training to "develop a responsible practice" of drone practice.At the end of the training, it is also planned to record the drone used on the Fox Alphatango platform and reveal on the device the certificate obtained.As the site indicates: "All aircraft whose mass (equipment and battery or fuel included) is greater than or equal to 800g must be recorded by their owner on the Alphatango portal".This will be mandatory from December 26, 2018, including for drones and aircraft already in use.
