Opening of the 42nd edition of Québec Mines + Énergie

QUEBEC CITY, Nov. 23, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister responsible for the Côte-Nord and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine regions, Mr. Jonatan Julien, participated this morning in the opening of the 42nd edition of the Québec Mines + Energy Congress, which is being held in virtual form from November 22 to 25, 2021. On this occasion, he highlighted the positive results of the first year of implementation of the Québec Plan for the Development of Critical and Strategic Minerals 2020-2025 (PQVMCS).

Critical and strategic minerals (CSM) are essential to the energy transition. Launched in the fall of 2020, the PQVMCS's vision is to make Quebec a leader in the production, processing, recovery and recycling of these minerals of the future, recognized internationally for its approach ethical and respectful of the principles of sustainable development.

Nearly a year after this launch, total commitments amounted to $26 million, or nearly 30% of the Plan's initial implementation budget. Several investments and amounts of financial assistance have been confirmed in recent months, particularly for research and development as well as for innovation. For example, we mention:

Québec also took part in several international events to promote its mineral potential and Québec's development sectors.
