Mission Inspiration4 SpaceX passengers share their lives in space live

(Washington) Space tourists currently flying in orbit around the Earth aboard a SpaceX ship shared a piece of their daily life in space on Friday, indulging in a few rolls and blaring ukulele notes in direct.

The time of their return to Earth has also been announced: they are to land in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Florida, on Saturday at 23:06 GMT (7:06 p.m. ET).

The four passengers of Inspiration4 - billionaire Jared Isaacman and three other Americans - took off Wednesday evening from Florida, for what is the first orbital mission without a professional astronaut. They are currently flying further than the International Space Station, at a speed of 28,000 km/h.

“We realize how lucky we are,” said Jared Isaacman, the commander of this mission, which he himself chartered, paying tens and tens of millions of dollars to SpaceX.

“We spend all of our time right now doing scientific research, and a bit of ukulele,” he joked.

One of the passengers, Chris Sembroski, played this instrument for a few seconds. This item, along with others taken on board, is to be auctioned upon their return, for the benefit of St Jude's Children's Hospital (Memphis, Tennessee).

It was this establishment that treated another passenger, Hayley Arceneaux, when she was a child and sick with cancer. She works there today as a medical assistant.

“Hayley is a champion at rolling,” laughed Sian Proctor, also from the trip, as she performed for the camera. "She's been rolling since we got into orbit. »

"I must say it's a lot of fun, and it allows us to lift very heavy things without any problem," added Hayley Arceneaux, 29.

Sian Proctor, who won her seat on board by creating an online sales site combining art and space, showed a drawing made on board: the capsule in which they are, named Dragon, pulled by a real dragon towards space.

The crew also collects data intended to better understand the effect of the space environment on complete novices, thanks to blood samples, tests of their cognitive abilities, etc.

The passengers also "shared their experience" with Tom Cruise from space, the official account of the Inspiration4 mission announced on Friday. “Maverick, you can be our wingman anytime you want,” the tweet states.

Maverick is the nickname of the elite pilot played by Tom Cruise in the movie Top Gun.

Last year, former NASA administrator under Donald Trump, Jim Bridenstine, announced a film project in weightlessness, starring Tom Cruise, aboard the International Space Station.

However, no details have yet been released on the project, which should be done in cooperation with SpaceX.
