Velodyne's Intelligent Infrastructure Solution helps governments solve some of the most complex and widespread infrastructure challenges. This solution combines Velodyne's award-winning lidar sensors with Bluecity's powerful artificial intelligence (AI) software to monitor road networks and public spaces. It generates real-time data analytics and predictions to improve traffic and crowd flow efficiency, promote sustainability and protect vulnerable road users.
The Intelligent Infrastructure Solution is deployed in several cities in North America, including Quebec and British Columbia, and will soon be deployed in New Jersey. In order to be eligible for a Smart 50 Award, solutions must achieve results at the municipal scale, or equivalent scale.
Velodyne's Intelligent Infrastructure Solution creates a 3D map of roads and intersections in real time, and provides precise traffic analysis and control not possible with other types of sensors, such as cameras or radars. It reliably collects data under all lighting and weather conditions, enabling 365 days a year, 24/7 operation, while maintaining individual privacy. The solution improves safety through multimodal analyzes that detect different road users, including vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. It can predict, diagnose and resolve road safety issues, helping municipalities and other clients make informed decisions for corrective action.
“The Smart 50 Award recognizes Velodyne's Smart Infrastructure Solution as one of the top 50 global examples of smart city technology in action,” said Jon Barad, Vice President of Business Development at Velodyne Lidar. “This award demonstrates how this innovative lidar-based approach can transform roads and transportation infrastructure within smart cities, creating sustainable and safer communities. »
The Smart 50 Awards Gala will take place in Washington, DC next October, and will be co-hosted with the Smart Cities Connect Conference.
