It's official, Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson or William Shatner are real astronauts and will receive the "astronaut wings".

But the precious badge will no longer be attributed to "commercial" astronauts from 2022.

The end of the "Space Astronaut Wings commercial"

A few days ago, the Federal Aviation Administration (or FAA) announced (among others) the end of the badge "Commercial Space Astronaut Wings", the latter being given to astronauts that took part in a commercial space trip.Espace travelers (paid) will therefore no longer be considered "real" astronauts ... from 2022.

Aux États-Unis, les touristes spatiaux n'auront plus droit au badge ailé des astronautes

Thus, all those who took part in a commercial space trip in 2021 remain concerned by this precious badge, even if it is actually "space tourists", and not astronauts. In other words, all those who participated in a FAA flight in 2021 will obtain their precious "wings".This is the case with Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, William Shatner, Michael Strahan…

As early as 2022, the precious astronaut wings will be given solely to all those who have demonstrated essential activities during the flight, for public safety or the security of habid -haired flights.Other commercial travelers will simply be entitled to a mention on the FAA website.
