Drones to deliver Covid-19 vaccines to all African countries
(Ecofin Agency)-for several years, drones have shown their usefulness in many areas. They can also assist in efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Astral Aviation, a Kenya-based freight company, will use its integrated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAS) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) solutions to deliver Covid-19 vaccines to African countries.
To improve vaccine distribution on the continent, the hope Consortium in Abu Dhabi turned to Astral Aviation. The company has a fleet of 14 cargo aircraft and drones to carry out this mission.
"Astral will provide additional technology and storage solutions for the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines from the Abu Dhabi hub to the 54 African countries, directly or through its Nairobi hub, which occupies 9,000 square metres of cold storage," said Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO of Astral Aviation.
In addition to its ability to deliver freight with the Flyox (large cargo drone), the Kenya-based company has established a partnership with the unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer Wingcopter for medical deliveries. It therefore has the right logistics to ensure that the hope consortium project unfolds smoothly.
Astral Aviation, thanks to its Astral Aerial drones technology subsidiary, won the IATA Air Cargo Global Innovation Award for its UTM [UTM] traffic management system in 2017.
