Raya and the Last Dragon Big Game Trailer fait « The Jumpy Thing » au Super Bowl
A new Super Bowl ad for Raya and the Last Dragon provides a new look at the animated film ahead of its March premiere. Last week, Walt Disney Animation Studios released an official trailer for the film, which will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access. The new Super Bowl spot offers an exciting new look at the anticipated film, and if you didn't catch the game, you can watch the new commercial below.
Per an official connection, “Raya and the Last Dragon takes us on an exciting and epic journey into the fantasy world of Kumandra, where Raya (Kelly Marie Tran, (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), a lone warrior, must find the last legendary dragon to stop an evil force that has returned after 500 years to once again threaten its homeworld.”
Awkwafina also stars as the voice of Sisu the dragon, which has drawn comparisons to Robin Williams' iconic performance as the Genie in Aladdin. When asked if Williams inspired the character of Sisu in Raya, producer Osnat Shurer explained that Awkwafina simply fit the qualifications of whatever they were looking for.
"When we met Awkwafina, we knew, first of all, that she was an incredible actress with a wide range, and with a very professional and disciplined approach to acting," Shurer said last month. “But Awkwafina was the dragon we were looking for – a combination of wisdom, emotion and humor. She combines these three things in a magic potion. I'm touched that you're comparing her to Robin.
Director Carlos Lopez Estrada added, "Sisu really gives Awkwafina such a good chance to explore his most wacky comedy, and also just the most serious, beautiful, and honest game that brought us all to tears." I just think it's really great to see a movie. Disney character that allows an actor to explore this range. "
Along with Tran and Awkwafina, Raya and the Last Dragon features a strong ensemble voice cast that also includes Izaac Wang, Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Benedict Wong, Jona Xiao, Sandra Oh, Thalia Tran, Lucille Soong, Alan Tudyk, Gordon Ip, Dichen Lachman, Patti Harrison, Jon "Dumbfoundead" Park, Sung Kang, Sierra Katow, Ross Butler, Francois Chau and Paul Yen.
Don Hall and Carlos Lopez Estrada direct Raya and the Last Dragon with Paul Briggs and John Ripta co-directing. Who Nguyen and Adele Lim wrote the screenplay. Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho produced. James Newton Howard composed the score, having worked with Disney on Dinosaur, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Treasure Planet.
Raya and the Last Dragon is set to hit theaters on March 5, 2021. On the same day, it will also be available on Disney+ with Premier Access for €29.99 in most Disney+ markets. If you want to watch it at home, you can pre-order it now on Disney+. Or, if you plan to visit the theater, advance tickets can also be ordered at Fandango. The new Big Game spot comes to us from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
