Huawei P50, P50 Pro and P50 Pro + will be available soon. These smartphones are highly anticipated because they are the first flagship with Harmonyos system, and this series of phones is famous for their excellent photo quality. Here's what we know about them before they're officially announced.
When will Huawei P50 be released?
Traditionally, Huawei will launch a new generation of P-Series smartphones in spring, that is, around April. This year, we need to be more patient. Huawei will wait until July 29, 2021 to announce the new P50. There are several reasons that forced Huawei to delay the release of P50. First, U.S. sanctions continue to prevent Huawei from obtaining parts. Secondly, there is a shortage of some materials needed to make smart phones. Finally, the global health situation is delaying some developments.
While we know the launch dates of the P50, P50 Pro and P50 Pro +, the launch date is still unknown. However, according to rumors from China, all versions of P50 will be available sometime in August. This also includes the 4G version, if any. This date should not be matched with commercial launches in Europe, but with commercial launches in China. In fact, even if almost all P40 versions are launched in the West, it is not surprising that Huawei decided to launch only one or two models in Europe like the Mate 40 series.
What is the price of Huawei P50?
Of course, we can't be sure of anything until Huawei communicates on this matter itself, but the pricing of P40 series smartphones should give us a good indication of what will happen. As usual, three different models are expected.
It is worth reminding that Huawei P40 was sold for 799 euros, Huawei P40 Pro for 999 euros and Huawei P40 Pro + for 1399 euros when it was released. The brand's suggested official price dropped rapidly among retailers. Prices for P50, P50 Pro and P50 Pro + are not expected to rise. However, the latter is not sure whether it will be released in Europe.
Design similar to Honor 50
Honor no longer belongs to Huawei, but it seems that the two brands are still closely linked. The Honor 50 recently went on sale in China, and according to leaks, Huawei's P50 series of phones look a lot like them. They will be specially equipped with similar photo blocks, which are very primitive. A unique design, in sharp contrast to the aesthetic proposition of competitors.

At the front, the front camera is accommodated in a central punch, a more common option. One model in the P50 series may be equipped with two self-timer cameras. In this case, the punch is repositioned to the left side of the plate. The screen accommodates a fingerprint reader for biometric authentication.
The Huawei P50 will present a flat edge, while the Pro will present a more curved edge. The size of the Huawei P50 is 156.7 x 74 x 8.3 mm (photo sensor thickness is 10.6 mm), while the size of the P50 Pro is 159 x 73 x 8.6 mm (photo module thickness is 10.3 mm), according to prominent leaker OnLeaks.
Huawei P50 will be available in five colors: Gold, green, blue, black and white.
OLED display, of course
All three models of P50 will be equipped with OLED technology board. Huawei will give up the refresh rate of 120 Hz and limit it to 90 Hz, at least on the core equipment of this series.

The diagonal of Huawei P50 is 6.2 inches, while the diagonal of P50 Pro is 6.6 inches. We don't yet know if the P50 Pro + will go any further, or if it will offer the same screen size as the P50 Pro. Huawei P50's full HD+2340 x 1080 pixel definition and P50 Pro's full HD+2340 x 1200 pixel definition to compensate for screen size and maintain similar pixel density. All three references support HDR10 for brighter colors and better contrast.
Performance and memory
For Huawei, which has been sanctioned by the United States, obtaining chips has become a real challenge. The ban theoretically prevents it from producing its own Kirin chips because they are based on ARM architecture, which belongs to British ARM Ltd.. It must issue licenses to smelters who wish to use this technology. Huawei has been unable to obtain SoC from Qualcomm or even MediaTek for a long time.
But Huawei's vises have been relaxed, and Huawei finally has several solutions. The first is to equip its P50 with Kirin 9000 chip designed by its semiconductor department HiSilicon. The SOC, etched to 5nm, is launched alongside the Mate 40 Pro, which will be a logical kit for the brand, which he has been using Mate chips in P-Series smartphones, but today things are different, with several industry reports pointing to very limited capacity for Huawei's Kirin 9000.
Another option is to knock on Qualcomm's door, which has finally obtained permission from the US Department of Commerce to sell its products to Huawei. But there is one strictest condition: The platform should not support 5G. Unless Qualcomm only develops the 4G version of Snapdragon 888, the latter cannot be integrated with Huawei P50. It is hard to imagine the Chinese manufacturer reducing performance by using an older SoC.
In a recent leak, we learned that the P50 Pro will do well to capture a new generation of telecoms in addition to supporting WiFi 6 +. Therefore, this Chinese manufacturer probably chose to equip its 5G model with homemade processors.
If the Snapdragon 888 4G comes out, Huawei will have two choices. But we must develop a specific modem compatible with Qualcomm chips. That appears to be Huawei's choice, according to a well-informed leaker. Kirin SOC will be named Kirin 9000E.
In terms of memory, we should maintain the high-end mobile standard, with at least 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage space configuration.
In addition to efficient wired charging, Huawei also provides fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support, and can charge accessories and even other smart phones with P50 batteries. He was the first person to introduce this technology in the mobile consumer market, and he knows this technology like the back of his hand.
Huawei P50 Pro + is the best camera on the market?
Huawei P50 promises to achieve amazing results in photos. While Huawei's Mate Series has historically focused on productivity (improved performance, better autonomy, wider screens), Huawei's P Series has risen to industry leadership (before the setbacks before the U.S. administration) by offering a photo experience. For example, Huawei P20 Pro was the first smart phone equipped with three main cameras at that time. As usual, Huawei is working with Leica, an optical expert, to launch new equipment.

Standard P50 will benefit from the main module (Vario-Summilux-H 1: 1.6-3.5/13-90 ASPH), ultra wide angle, telephoto (f/1). 6 to f/3. 5) and the last sensor, which may be used for depth of field management. The P50 Pro uses this formula, adding a periscope function to the telephoto lens for better zoom, especially optical zoom. As for the P50 Pro +, it can become the undisputed Zoom champion in the smartphone market, which combines telephoto and periscope. Leaks depend on 100x or 200x zoom due to digital processing.
In any case, the main camera of Huawei P50 will be a 1/1. The 18-inch Sony IMX800. Huawei plans to spend most of its time demonstrating the photo performance of Huawei P50.
HarmonyOS is native to Huawei P50 and has no Google service
Huawei P50 does not have an Android-based EMUI, and this smartphone will be directly powered by HarmonyOS, which has been developing a HarmonyOS software environment since Huawei no longer allowed Google services on its devices. In fact, this is an Android spin-off based on the Android open source project, which contains many of Android's interface elements and features, and the keys here and there seem to be inspired by iOS. However, it is reported that Huawei is planning to add new features to its P50 that are not yet available in HarmonyOS, but these features are still unknown. To be continued.
Of course, the operating system has its own application repository, and its directories are growing rapidly. For example, games like PUBG, Call of Duty or King's Glory are available in the app library. These HarmonyOS-compatible versions may even offer better performance than Android.
Huawei has launched Celia keyboard and petal map GPS navigation application. . . In short, every Google service that used to be embedded by default on Huawei's mobile phone now has an equivalent service. In addition, some exclusive functions are added, such as Memory Turbo, which adds 2GB of virtual RAM to the device to improve stability, multitasking performance and background task management.
