OSOM OV1: the smartphone to be monitored in 2022, heir to the Essential Phone
L'OSOM OV1 sera l'un des smartphones à surveiller en 2022. L'entreprise québécoise prévoit de le présenter en détail et de le commercialiser l'année prochaine... c'est l'héritier de l'Essential Phone.
Do you recognize the photo smartphone above? No ?Get closer. You do not have it ?It does not make you think of the essential phone. However, the OSOM OV1 was designed by the creators of the Essential Phone.
Essential, as a reminder, is a brand that has put the key under the door. She was carrying a project of an Android smartphone, relatively unique on the market.Always behind this project, Andy Rubin, co -founder of Android. He offered a pure Android interface with regular updates, in time, and it was the first smartphone to tackle a notch.
OSOM OV1, a safety and confidentiality -oriented smartphone
Jason Keats, l’ancien responsable de la R&D chez Essential, a créé une nouvelle entreprise appelée OSOM Products en septembre 2020, sans Andy Rubin. One of OSOM's objectives is to provide confidentiality -oriented products. As promised, we can discover the company's first smartphone, OV1 OSOM.
Two cameras, a biometric optical sensor… nothing surprising!
This OV1 will focus security and confidentiality, its design will remind you that of the Essential Phone. Its creator has confirmed that we will not have to count on a smartphone capable of competing with the tenors of the market ... So do not wait for the last Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, nor the last OLED 120 HZ screen.
Osom promised that the software experience would be very close to what the Essential Phone proposed, an experience that will approach AOSP (Android Open Source Project) with some tools and apps oriented security and confidentiality.
We don't know much else about the OV1 OSOM, apart from a few details on its availability. The OSOM OV1 will be sold in the United States, Canada and a few European countries, including France, next year.Initially, the Osom team was aimed at the MWC in February, but it will rather be waiting until summer.
For the little anecdote, Osom is recorded in Quebec.Which means that this smartphone will be the second Canadian smartphone, after BlackBerry.
