Netflix at Free: how to take advantage of it?

Since December 2018, Free, like the other three main French operators, has offered Netflix services on its boxes. For all fans of series, movies and for all others who want to enjoy the huge library of content from American SVOD, here is a guide on how to enjoy it.

Freebox Delta and Freebox One: direct and free access to Netflix's "Essential" package

Enjoy your favorite films and series for free in good quality on your TV thanks to the Freebox One or the Freebox Delta offered by the Free operator. Indeed, subscribing to one or other of these subscriptions systematically entitles you to Netflix's "Essential" formula, which is normally billed at €7.99 per month. If you already have a Netflix account, fill in the email address when you first connect to your Freebox. Once your account is associated with your Freebox, direct debits will be automatically suspended. If, on the other hand, you do not yet have a Netflix account, you can create one from your television and enjoy the content of the "Essential" formula for free.

What about the other Freeboxes?

If you have a Freebox Crystal or a Freebox Mini 4K, you must create an independent Netflix account to enjoy the SVOD service on your television. However, you will be billed monthly depending on the plan chosen.

As for Free Revolution subscribers, the operator has offered them the possibility, since December 2019, of benefiting directly from Netflix without an additional subscription. To take advantage of it, you just need to update your Box from the “Freebox TV” homepage by clicking on “Netflix”.

How to change Netflix formula?

The "Essential" formula is the basic formula at Netflix. It allows you to watch series and movies on a single screen with a definition of 480 p. If you want to enjoy content in HD and share your account with another person, you will have to opt for the Standard plan, normally available at the price of €11.99/month. But if you subscribe to one of the offers that already includes the basic plan, you will only pay a monthly supplement of 3 euros to take advantage of the above plan.

In order to take advantage of the advantages of the Premium formula such as sharing up to 4 screens simultaneously, definition in 4K and others, a monthly supplement of 6 euros is necessary. To switch from one offer to another, go to your personal space on the Netflix site and enter your credentials.

Note, however, that a minimum speed of 5 Mb/s is necessary to take full advantage of HD content. For 4K, 25 Mb/s is required. So take the trouble to do a speed test before opting for one of its formulas and make sure that your television is compatible with these image definitions.

Finally, if you wish, you can cancel your Netflix subscription at any time by going directly to your personal space on the service's website.
