Artificial intelligence for effective talent management

Quebec City, January 26, 2022 – Professor Belkacem Chikhaoui, from the Science and Technology Department of TÉLUQ University and Scientific Director of the LICEF Research Institute, receives an Alliance grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada ( CRSNG) for the research project "Development of an innovative platform based on skills and artificial intelligence to support talent management". The grant is $200,000 over two years.

The objective of this project, led by the LICEF research institute and carried out in partnership with PMGS Inc., is to design an artificial intelligence platform to support companies in their talent management strategies. To do this, this skills-based platform will exploit big data and use recommendation models.

“I would like to congratulate Professor Chikhaoui for obtaining this grant. In a context of a major labor shortage and the difficulty in recruiting it, his research work will prove to be relevant both in terms of talent management and the contribution of research in artificial intelligence," said Lucie Laflamme, General Manager of TÉLUQ University.

For his part, Professor Chikhaoui explains that “this grant will make it possible to develop new efficient artificial intelligence algorithms applied to multimodal and massive data to produce recommendations. These algorithms will solve real problems encountered in the field of skills management and talent acquisition”.

The immediate benefits expected from this project are numerous. Among other things, using the platform will allow companies to make smarter hiring and talent management decisions, increase reskilling and retention of staff with dynamic, interactive and actionable insights. It will also help governments in several crucial issues such as the labor shortage in certain sectors of activity and the transition to the labor market of tomorrow.
