Iliad wants to buy the number 1 of the mobile in Poland |igeneration
Iliad, Free Mother House, launched a public purchasing offer from the operator Play, the number one of the mobile in Poland. At the end of this operation of 2.2 billion euros, Iliad would total 41 million customers in mobile between its French, Italian and Polish markets and sixth place at European level.
Play turned on its network in Poland in 2007.His growth led him to head the mobile market in the country with 14.9 million subscribers, ahead of four competitors including Orange (13.7 million) and T-Mobile (11 million).
Like Free Mobile, he relied on a roaming agreement with the local subsidiary of Orange to accelerate its coverage (then with two other operators in the country).Iliad underlines the similarity of spirit between the two brands.
Play has a market share of 29 %, this year he launched a fixed Haut-Débit offer-which he intends to help develop-and plans to go on 5G before the end of the year. The brand has 761 stores and 2,800 employees.
Currently, 90 % of Iliad's turnover is achieved in France, the balance from the Italian subsidiary with its 6 million subscribers (8 % of the mobile market, no fixed supply). With the reinforcement of Play, Iliad would significantly accentuate its internationalization by bringing the French share to 69 % of the total while the Polish would represent 23 % and the Italian 8 %.
At European level, this acquisition would bring Iliad closer to the 5th place of mobile operators. The operation is planned to end on November 25.
