HDMI-for high-definition multimedia interfaces-is the most widely used standard interface. With MHL/Slimport

HDMI is convenient and intuitive. Unfortunately, not all Android tablets have an HDMI port, which tends to disappear over time. Fortunately, two new standards allow external displays to be connected through micro-USB ports. We're talking about MHL-Mobile HD Link-and Slimport here.

Both standards use the Android tablet's micro-USB port to transmit video and audio displays. Up to 8 surround channels are available. Usually, you need to use a small dongle to convert tablet signals into HDMI-compatible signals.

A Slimport or MHL signal converter costs between 10 euros and 25 euros. Therefore, this solution is a little more expensive than HDMI, but it is more extensive. MHL is currently version 3 and supports 4K resolution. The same is true of slimming.

MHL is more often supported by different brands of TV. To see if your TV is compatible, check the HDMI socket and check if the MHL logo is displayed. Then, you only need to use micro-USB to HDMI cable. If your screen does not support MHL, you need to use an adapter.

Through USB-C port

USB Type-C or USB-C has spread like wildfire on mobile devices in recent years. So much so that even Apple adopted it on its new iPad Pro in 2018. This connection has many advantages.

First of all, it doesn't need a precise sense of connection. No matter which direction you plug the cable in, the transmission will work. Therefore, the old micro-USB ports are no longer at risk of breakage, and these ports are very fragile.

Secondly, this is the biggest advantage of USB-C, which is the versatility of this technology. With a simple adapter, an Android smartphone or tablet can transmit high-definition images and sounds to a TV, receive a keyboard or mouse, and even charge another device. Therefore, USB Type-C is very versatile!

The only drawback is the price of the USB-C adapter: The price of this equipment is between 20 euros and 70 euros. However, this is worthwhile because these adapters typically include several HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-A outputs.

There are several ways to display images of your Android tablet on your TV without the need for wires.

Miracaster

The Miracast wireless standard allows you to create a network between two devices, typically tablets and TV boxes. More and more TVs directly support Miracast. This standard is based on H.264 video transmission and allows full HD resolution. It also supports Digital Rights Management (DRM). As a result, online services like iPlayer or YouTube can stream directly to the TV. Miracast is supported on all Android devices with version 4.2 and above.

Google Chromecast

Alternatively, you can use Google Chromecast. The 40-euro dongle is plugged into the TV's HDMI port and then connected to a wireless network. Many online services, such as iPlayer, Netflix and BT Sport, can be broadcast via Chromecast. Note, however, that some services require additional subscriptions to allow mirroring. The configuration is very simple.

Since July 2014, Chromecast has also allowed screens for Android devices to be displayed. Videos, apps, games and photos can be played directly on TV. Forget the Bluetooth solution that can sometimes be found on the Internet.

How do I connect my iPad to my TV?

With cables

The easiest way to connect an iPhone or iPad to a TV is to use Apple's digital AV adapter. This cable connects the Apple device to the HDMI port. There are two types of digital AV adapters. One was designed for Lightning devices, and the second was designed for older models with 30-pin ports. To ensure the transition, you also need an HDMI cable.

Simply connect the iPad to the TV using a cable, and then plug the appropriate channel into the port where the cable is plugged through your remote control. Images on the iPad screen will be displayed on the TV in 1080p full HD quality.

Through Apple TV

Connect your iPhone or iPad to the same home network as your TV. Open the ARK ™ application. Click on the Arkuda DMS option to select music, photos or videos. In the Select Media Renderer menu, select your TV.

If your TV does not appear in the list, please enable the DLNA function of your TV. Go to your TV's Internet Connection menu and find options for transferring images from your PC or server. It's DLNA. When this option is enabled, the Arkuda DMS folder should appear on the screen. Select the files you are interested in and start them.
