Mobile customers in the area could no longer hang on a network.Very quickly, the ANFR suspects the installation - illegal - of a wave jammer.As the authority reports: "It was therefore necessary to locate precisely the source of the scrambling - which was akin, in this city of more than 140,000 inhabitants, to look for a needle in a haystack!".To locate the source of the problem, the ANFR has therefore grown the area with a special vehicle, equipped with a radiogoniometer.

Arriving at the scene, the agents nevertheless encountered a problem.The radiogoniometer does not allow the source of a jamming precisely to locate precisely.However, the Clermont-Ferrand area in which they found themselves includes many buildings of buildings, with dozens of housing.They therefore carry out a series of measures, which allowed them to make a first observation.

The disorders scratch system was indeed a jammer capable of blurring mobile telephony networks.After many passages, and by refining the measures, they end up finding the building in which the manager of the manager is located.Given the impact of the scrambling, and its illegal nature, the agents then asked for the assistance of the prosecutor, which made it possible to set up a police operation.

The BRI invests the apartment, everything goes very quickly.After a control of the occupants, we penetrate the premises and seek the jammer.It is a multi-band jammer, installed in a TV furniture drawer.We disconnect it immediately and an OPJ puts it on sealed ”

The owner of the device not being present at the time of the search, he received a summons and had to explain the presence of this equipment.In France, it is strictly prohibited to hold, or to use this kind of device.Any offense is liable to sanctions that can go up to 6 months in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.

Before being able to be tried, the interested party also had to pay a tax of 450 euros for "intervention costs of the ANFR".He has since given his version of the facts - but the latter has not really convinced the ANFR.The latter explains that he just wanted to prevent his neighbors from connecting to the box in his apartment ...

A reason that is not very credible since its equipment had to be also affected by the scrambling and therefore should not be able to connect to its internet box when the device was lit.
