The government details the ban on road controls in Waze and Coyote |igeneration

We know since spring that apps like Waze and Coyote will no longer be able to report the presence of the police on the roads in certain cases. The challenge remained in what cases precisely and a few days before the implementation of these new rules, the government finally answered the questions and asked the framework of application. As BFM sums it up, it is a very strict frame that should not change much for users of the apps.

As of November 1, the apps will have to mask the road checks carried out by the police and reported by their users if the prefect or the Minister of the Interior requests it, only on the municipal and departmental roads, ona specific area, for a limited period and for a list of well -defined reasons.

Concretely, the maximum prohibition radius planned is two kilometers in the agglomerations and ten kilometers outside the cities. The maximum duration will be two hours for alcohol and narcotic and ten hours for checks related to a removal or a terrorist act. This new rule does not concern speed controls, for example those carried out at the twin, which cannot be masked in the apps, even at the prefect's request.

In addition, it is only a question of hiding information, not to block its collection. From the point of view of drivers, nothing changes and it will always be possible to report any road control without risking sanction. It is up to the apps that the responsibility is responsible for hiding them, if these reports take place in a prohibited area defined by the authorities.
