It is a furious mother who spoke on social networks. On Twitter, Kristin Livdahl posted a question posed by her ten-year-old to the artificial intelligence Alexa. The child's question is simple: “give me a challenge to perform”. A seemingly innocuous request that could have turned into a tragedy, artificial intelligence having proposed to the child to carry out the “challenge of the power outlet”.
For those who don't know it, here's what it is for Alexa: “Here's something I found on the web. According to ourcommunitynow.com: The challenge is simple: it involves plugging a phone charger halfway into a wall outlet, then touching a penny to the exposed pins. An obviously dangerous challenge that could have gone wrong if the parents of the child had not been attentive.
Contacted by Metro UK, an Amazon spokeswoman assured that the problem had been resolved. “Customer trust is at the center of everything we do and Alexa was created to provide accurate, relevant, and useful information to customers. As soon as we were made aware of this error, we took action to fix it,” he said.
