Artificial intelligence: a factor in accelerating research at IRIC
Given the magnitude of massive data produced by new technologies in recent years, the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the University of Montreal has relied on expertise in bioinformatics and biomedical data, in partnership with the Montreal artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.
But how does AI apply to the field of oncology? How do the various experts in this specialized field manage to understand each other? And where does AI hold the potential to accelerate discovery for the benefit of patients?
This was discussed in particular by Sébastien Lemieux, scientific director of the bioinformatics platform at IRIC, and Yoshua Bengio, scientific director of Mila, the Quebec Institute for Artificial Intelligence, on the occasion of the second Rendez-vous Audace conference, held virtually on April 20.
